(I'm usualy making gifts!) but I came up with this quick, easy and fun turkey so
I wanted to share it!

ReUseIt Project: Turkey Center Piece

Project Rating: Easy

Time: 20 minutes

 Materials:

Supplies:

Tools:

2 pieces of 8x11” white

scrap paper

(writing only on one side)

8x11” piece of thin cardboard

(cereal box type)

Orange, red ,white, brown

and black paints

Mod Podge (optional)

Scissors

Paint brush

Turkey pattern

Cut one of the pieces of paper in half (to 5 1/4”)and paint black(let dry, paint the other side).Paint the remaining piece red and orange alternating the stripes longways on the paper. Let dry, paint the back, let dry. Apply Mod Podge

to both pieces(optional).

While your waiting for the paint to dry,cut out the pieces of the pattern.Trace each pattern piece onto the cardboard and cut out.

Paint the back of the body piece black (this will be facing the backend).Paint the front of the body shape brown(I left the bottom as is).Apply Mod Podge to brown side(optional).

Paint the hat black, the beak orange and the eyes white with black crosses, paint the sacks red. Paint a white buckle on the hat or cut from a piece of the white paper and Mod Podge to the hat.

Slightly bend the eyes to face out and bend the beak so that the eyes separate.Glue to brown side of body about 3/4” from the top of the head.Glue the hat sitting off center and the sacks underneath the beak.Bend the body backwards and press hard at the fold so he will stand upright.

Fold the painted pieces of

paper into fans…

For the larger piece, starting at the narrow end, make folds at 1 ¼” intervals to the end.Hot glue or staple the center together.Starting at the narrow end, fold the black piece at 1” intervals to the end and glue or staple the center.

Fold the fan in half, then hold the inside edges together and glue or staple in place. Pull the outside edges down to form a fan.

Attach the black fan to the black side of the body piece first with hot glue. Then attach the large piece behind it.

After placing the fans on the base piece, stand the body up and back so that it leans on the black fan…done!

Make your own gift box 1

ReUseIt Project: Gift box 1  (size will be about 5” x 8 ”)

Project Rating: Easy

Time: 15 minutes

Materials:

Supplies:

Tools:

9 oz. snack box

No supplies needed

Hot Glue gun

Open up the box at the flaps and from the seam(see ReUse Cardboard). With the inside of the box facing you, fold all of the flaps inward (toward the printed side) and press between your fingers to get the flaps going the opposite direction from their original fold.

Fold box over from the center on itself so that the flaps meet and the side with the small seam flap is at the top (this will be the lid).Using the hot glue gun, glue all four corners of the bottom part of your box.

And you’re done! Place your gift inside and tape together!

Perfect Picture Frame

ReUseIt Crafts Project: Picture Frame

Project Rating: Easy

Time: 1 to 2 hours

Materials: Creamer container

Empty cereal box (or similar type)

                  Fabric

Supplies: Mod Podge or regular glue

       Tools: Scissors

                  Craft  or sharp knife

                  Marker

                  Paint brush

                  Glue gun

Remove the plastic from creamer container starting from the top, stick the point of the knife under the edge and tear off. Set the lid aside. Make sure the top edge is clear of paper from the seal.

Poke a hole into the plastic near the top of the container to have an opening for the scissors. Cut off the top, then trim as even and as even as you can to about 1/2”. Then make cuts all the way around and bend backwards toward rim to make a flat surface. At this point you can use many different ways to decorate your frame without the cardboard frame ring. But I chose material.

For the frame ring, take the cut piece of plastic and place wide side down on cardboard. Trace inside and outside of plastic piece, then cut to make frame ring.

Unless you can cut completely smooth edges, you will need to cover the rough edges with something. I used a piece of scrap material for the frame ring but you can use whatever you have on hand-yarn, paper etc… With the size ring I cut out, I used a 20” x 1” strip of material. Glue corner to either side to start. Then wrap all the way around, overlapping until it’s covered. Glue end and trim if needed.

Mod Podge the material to keep the edges from fraying and make it semi dust resistant. Glue back of frame ring to plastic piece so that the threaded side faces you.

Now you’re ready for a picture. I found this cute baby doll in a magazine for this project. Trace a circle by using the inside of the plastic piece and measuring about 1/8” smaller (you may want to experiment with the cardboard before cutting a picture). Cut your picture the same size, tape or glue to cardboard. Follow the same procedure for a clear piece of plastic to protect the picture (maybe from a page from a photo album, clear part of a bread bag works too!)

I just placed the picture assembly in the lid and then adjusted, but you may want to tape or glue it, making sure it’s centered on the spout. Screw on the frame ring assembly. Open the spout and the picture stands alone or add a magnet to the back and stick it on the frig!

Almost Halloween!

ReUseIt Crafts Project: `Boo’

Project rating: Easy

Time: 20 minutes

Materials:

3 White plastic grocery bags

Fishing line or string

Supplies:

Scissors

Hot glue gun or scotch tape

Black marker

Have at least one plastic bag that only has writing on one side.Lay out flat and cut the handles off, then cut along the bottom, straight across cutting off the seam.Cut one end to that the bag lays open.

Take another bag ,starting from the bottom at seam ,roll up and then twist tightly and tape the ends so its stays twisted. Take the last bag and ball it up rotating it so that the writing is inside and not showing and you have two sides to tape or glue together.

Glue or tape the ‘arm’ to the lower back of the ‘head’. Take your cut bag and fold in half, fold each side at the fold inward, so that when the head is placed in center they will resemble ‘shoulders’, tape or glue .

Place head with arms up into the center at the fold, mold the plastic around the head.

Flip upside down and tape or glue top piece to shoulders at neck. Turn upright, Holding the head, lay the body flat and cut scallops on the bottom edge.Hold by the head and fluff a bit.

Draw eyes and mouth with marker. Tape or glue line or string to top/back of head and hang.If your going to hang it outside, make sure you glue the head to the plastic.Grab up the plastic in the back and tie the string on.
